The Philips Stadium in Eindhoven was the scene of the very first edition of Groots Junior on Wednesday afternoon 12 June. This concert was a show especially for children based on the very popular Dutch concert series Groots met een zachte G. by Dutch singer Guus Meeuwis. With this, Guus gave the first ever Dutch children's stadium concert. Special guests were popular Dutch artists such as Nielson and Kraantje Pappie.
As is normal in the Netherlands before a concert, music was also played during the walk-in prior to the show. At Groots Junior this was provided by Efteling Kids Radio. In addition, the radio station aired a four-hour radio show from the backstage room. Because a location set was used, the DJs were able to use their own OmniPlayer setup connected to their own database.
"It was everything we had imagined and maybe even more," Guus Meeuwis told Omroep Brabant. "The children got the guests they wanted, and the food and drinks they wished for." Efteling Kids Radio also thought it was one big party. Both the show and the ease with which they could make their radio show on location.
