Dutch radio DJ Sander Hoogendoorn has called out to all radio stations to play 'You'll Never Walk Alone' on Friday morning at 8:45 AM. His appeal is being copied in many other European countries. BBC Radio 1 and Radio 2 in England, StudioBrussels, Qmusic and JOE in Belgium, and radio stations in many, many other European countries, are joining in and will broadcast the record on Friday, in order to join forces in the corona crisis.
The DJ of the public radio station 3FM came up with the initiative for the simultaneous broadcasting of the record in response to the speech by Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte last Monday. “We all have to do what we can to beat this crisis. Things like this just go beyond the boundaries of radio channels”, said the 3FM DJ.
In the Netherlands, almost all public and commercial radio stations are taking part in Sander's campaign, but the commitments continue to come. Of course, we are in solidarity with our friends at all the different radio stations and we will sing along coming Friday, wherever we are.
Will you join in?
